Fitting Instructions

Small Decals

  1.  Ensure the surface you are applying it to is clean and dry.
  2.  Peel off the backing tape.
  3.  Apply the decal to the surface and firmly rub to ensure it is stuck down well.
  4.  Slowly peel off the top layer of application tape.

Sometimes there may be difficulty in removing the backing paper without bringing the decal with it.  Simply place the decal face down and rub a credit card or similar across the back to push the decal onto the application tape.  Then, with the decal still face down, peel the backing paper off at a sharp angle.   The following video shows how this can be done.

Large Vinyl Application

Larger vinyl graphics need to be applied differently.  There are two methods, the ‘dry method’ and the ‘wet method’.

The Wet Method

1. Pre-positioning

  • Measure and align where you want the decal to sit.
  • Use masking tape to mark the corners or edges of the decal’s position.
  • You can also temporarily tape the decal in place to preview alignment.
  • Remove the decal and prep for application using these guides.

2. Prep the Surface

  • Clean the surface to remove dust, dirt, and oils.

3. Spray Application Fluid

  • Mix water and a drop of dish soap in a spray bottle.
  • Mist the surface generously and also lightly spray the adhesive side of the decal.

4. Floating Placement

  • Align the decal using your masking tape guides.
  • It’ll “float” on the surface, so you can nudge it into place perfectly.

5. Squeegee & Dry

  • Smooth from center outward to eliminate bubbles and fluid.  You want to work as much of the fluid out from underneath as possible to speed drying.
  • Let dry for at least 1 hour (longer if humid) before removing transfer tape.  If it hasn’t fully dried the decal will come away wothe application tape.

Dry Method

1. Surface Prep

  • Clean the area thoroughly to ensure it free from grease, dirt and dust.
  • Make sure it’s 100% dry—any moisture can compromise adhesion.

2. Position for Accuracy

  • Measure where you’d like the decal to be placed.
  • Align it carefully, then use masking tape to tack it into place temporarily— also put a strip of masking tape across the middle to use as a ‘hinge’.

3. Application

  • Peel the backing tape off one side of the hinge, cut the back paper away.
  • Working out from the middle where you have it held in place by masking tape press the decal down gradually using a squeegee or credit card, working from the center outward.
  • Firm pressure helps eliminate air pockets and anchors the decal properly.

4. Finishing Touch

  • Slowly remove the transfer tape.
  • Inspect for bubbles or lifted edges, pressing down again if needed.
